Waterjet cutting

Superior Edge Quality

Edge quality is one of the most important significant reasons why designers specify waterjet. Waterjet produces a smooth uniform burr-free edge.

The edge quality produced by waterjet is a function of speed, pressure, nozzle size and abrasive flow rate. In many cases waterjet eliminates the need for secondary finishing, thus creating significant time savings and improving efficiency in your workshop.

Efficient & Cost Effective

Like all equipment, there is an ultimate tool for every application. Waterjet excels with cutting very thick products, including aluminum, multi-layer materials, composites, hardened steels over 25mm thick, and products which must be cut with no distortion or heat-affected zones.

If you are looking for a process which can deliver exceptional edge quality requiring little or no additional edge treatment, and the flexibility to cut almost any type and thickness of the product, then waterjet is your best option.

Precise Internal Cutouts

With cutting accuracy of ±0.1 to ±0.2mm (accuracy varies between machines), waterjet is an extremely versatile cutting tool which is why it is used globally in many industries for intricate designs and jobs which require high tolerances.

waterjet is actually a “controlled erosion process” and you are dealing with a fluid tool, as opposed to a rigid metal cutting tool, things work completely differently.

DRILLING HOLES BY CONVENTION

Most mechanical cutters will go through materials with a cutting action and a spiral cutter that actually lifts the chips, grit, debris, or whatever you want to call it, from the hole as you go through the material.  With EDM the electrode will burn away the material by arcing and the debris is washed out by flooding with a liquid.  In drilling glass, you may use a diamond bit, and the glass will be pulverized or ground away and you use low volume water or other liquid to carry the grit away.  This is a pretty straight forward process in these instances.

Two kinds of waterjet cutting methods exist, namely pure and abrasive waterjet cutting. The difference is that pure waterjet cutting is used for cutting soft materials like foam or paper by using solely the water stream for cutting. Whereas, for abrasive waterjet cutting a granular abrasive is added to the water stream. The granular abrasive accelerates the power of the cutting stream, enabling hard materials such as metal or ceramics to be easily cut.

No hazardous waste

The growing importance of environmentally friendly processes throughout the industries is becoming more apparent. A significant advantage of waterjet cutting is that it does not create any hazardous waste in the form of fumes and gases, unlike other cutting technologies.

No material distortion

Through its cold cutting method, the heat exposure can be bypassed, which is especially critical for materials like metal, leading to a fine cut without distortion in the material. This results in a smooth and burr-free cut.

Waterjet cutting advantage:

Water cutter belongs to cold cutting equipment, environmental protection, and no thermal impact, smooth cutting edge, can avoid grinding edge, cutting gap is less than 0.01 mm, cutting thickness can exceed 100 mm, cutting materials are widely used, so it is favored by customers.

High-pressure water jet cutting machine is widely used in cutting composite materials, rubber, granite, marble, leather, nylon, glass, cloth, tile, food, wood, metal, low melting point, inflammable and explosive materials, such as paper, ammunition, etc.
